Happy Holidays

I’m a sucker for Days Christmas episodes. I love the singing, the telling of the Christmas story, and the hanging of the Horton ornaments. I love how characters long departed still get their ornament hung on the tree.

Here’s an mvid I found on YouTube, a montage of Days Christmases, old and new. I love the way the Christmas story is woven together at the end.

Have a great holiday, everyone.

  1. Thanks for posting that montage, MP. It’s a great reminder of all those wonderful Christmas’ in the past. And the more current scenes remind us that even in these umm, less stellar days, there are some nice moments to remember.

    Happy Holidays everybody.

  2. I never thought much about music montages back when the show had them all the time, but now I miss them. They really bring out the emotion in scenes. Mvids can sometimes fill the gap.

    Merry Christmas to you both!

  3. I miss the montages, too. I always liked them.

Thanks for the good memories. I was really looking forward to the Christmas shows on Days this year but, once again, nothing but disappointment.

I hope you had a merry Christmas. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

  4. Merry Christmas to you, too, Flaco!

I used to take a lot of things for granted back in the 80’s—the music, the montages, the love scenes, the fantasy sequences, the “surprise” slow dances or romantic dinners for two. Some of these things were too cheesy for my tastes back then (and some still are). But when I got a good look at a show without them, I see how much they added to the emotion and romance of the show.

  5. Thanks Mary and Merry Christmas!

I always looked forward to the Christmas shows and the hanging of the ornaments. It was a nice recap to what had happened over the past year and a reminder of who wasn’t there. This year was painfully sparce.

I agree the music montages were a wonderful way of ending some of the shows, even though I winched a few times. I find I also miss them.

    Thanks for posting!

  6. I used to get annoyed seeing the same couple montages again and again—I thought it was a lazy time filler when they couldn’t think of anything else. Which, honestly, it probably was.

But I loved when they made a montage of the characters featured on that particular episode, especially after a really dramatic event. I just watched one on my DVDs where Justin and Adrienne get in a fight with Victor and move out of the Kiriakis mansion. It’s like a breakup montage, but for Victor and Justin instead of a romantic couple.

  7. As I have been watching old S&K stuff, there are times when I think I’ll have some kind of fit if they replay “If Your Heart Comes Out” with the same old montage of scenes one more time. But just last night, I saw the montage after Steve rescued Kayla from Orpheus which included everyone from the show and I loved it. Sometimes they were really great.
